2010 Conference Grant Programs

The grant submission deadline is February 15.

The ISA grant programs provide incremental funding for conference activities and scholarships, over and above the level of conference budgets. Conferences are invited to propose ways in which modest discretionary or seed money could make a difference to their conference as described below.

Please note that grant amounts are limited. As a result we strongly encourage matching funds with grant submissions. We also consider scholarship funding requests separately, so please submit separate programming and scholarship grant requests.

The Isles of Shoals Association scholarship grant funds are intended to provide need-based financial aid to Star Island Conference attendees who may not otherwise be able to attend a conference.  All scholarship funding provided by the ISA grant program should be allocated through an open and fair process that is accessible to all conferees.  If you are requesting scholarship funds please include information about your conference’s scholarship promotion, application, and review processes.

Grants are made annually, and have typically been in the range of several hundred dollars. This funding is for new projects and programs, rather than as subsidies to ongoing budgets. Grants are meant to foster the educational, religious and cultural aspects of on-Island conferences. We tend to accept proposals that:

  • maintain our spirit and traditions
  • promote and support conferences
  • improve the Island’s quality of life
  • initiate physical or cultural change
  • encourage individual contributions

The Association has done joint funding with other organizations. However, this program does not apply to affiliates of other organizations, such as the Star Island Corporation and Elderhostel.

When a grant is made by the Association, it would be appreciated if the grant were acknowledged publicly at the conference. For information please contact the grant committee at grants@shoals.org.

Requests for Conference Grants will be reviewed by the full ISAUU Board in early March. Please submit your grant by the February 15 deadline.

Grants should be submitted as e-mail attachments to grants@shoals.org. If this is problematic for your conference please e-mail us well in advance to make other arrangements.  A confirmation e-mail will be sent within a few days after your application has been received.
