Oral History Archives
The Isles of Shoals Association is currently in the beginning stages of the Star Island Oral History Archives. Funded by the ISA and supported by the island manager, Paul Jennings, the goal of this project is to collect the reminiscences of our Star Island elders on audio and videotape to preserve the cherished history and traditions of the Shoals, and to build an archive of remembered history that will be available for Shoalers and researchers for years to come.
Goals, in order of priority:
- Collect first-hand memories of Star and the Isles of Shoals, primarily from the 30s and 40s.
- Collect and preserve existing audio and video tapes of Shoalers.
- Catalog, transcribe and index these tapes.
- Provide technical support to enable conferences to record their own histories.
- Interview Shoalers about significant events from the 50s and 60s.
