<image:title><p class="" style="white-space:pre-wrap;">isauu board - Ali Walton (She/Her)</image:title>
<image:caption>Ali Walton lives in Denver, CO with her husband, Phil Quatrochi, and two children, Cooper and Macy. Ali attended both All Star I and II as a child until becoming a Pelican in the late 80s. After working as a Pel for six summers, Ali returned to All Star I and has been in regular attendance since that time. In total, Ali has attended Star for over 45 years. Ali was the All Star I Registrar and member of the Executive Committee from 2014-2016 and again in 2019 and Chair in 2025. Ali serves on the ISAUU Board of Directors (and is now President), the SIC Board of Directors, and the Shops on Star Committee. Ali has a deep love for Star Island and feels gratitude for the many roles she has filled that have provided various ways to interact with the Island and its community, including lifelong conferee, Pelican, conference leadership, ISAUU and SIC leadership, and parent of children and a Pelican on Star. The multitude of lenses through which she sees the Island has led to a greater appreciation for its monumental impact on so many people as each endeavor provides new insights. <image:title><p class="" style="white-space:pre-wrap;">isauu board - Amy Meek (She/Her)</image:title>
<image:caption>Amy grew up attending UCC (Star Gathering) conferences, as her father was often asked to be minister of the week and her parents became conference chairs. As a teen she came to the island every year, attending the UCC/Star Gathering Youth Conferences before becoming a Pelican after her freshman year of college. Amy worked on Star Island a total of nine full seasons (1998-2003, 2009-2011), plus various other volunteer and short-term stints, doing everything from Truck Crew to Resident Life. Since 2013/2014, Amy has attended Pel Reunion Conference and You Are You Conference (formerly YAC), has co-chaired both conferences, and is a member of each of their steering committees. She has been a Star Island Corporation member for over a decade and has served on the Marine Lab Committee. Amy has volunteered in the ISAUU Shops many times over the years, especially enjoying the Book Store; she recently inspired the store display of ‘books by former Pelicans.' Amy is excited to be an ISAUU Board Director and is glad to have this new connection to her favorite place on Earth.</image:caption>

She spent two fantastic summers working on the island during college, meeting lifelong friends and her partner. They now live in Denver, CO with their cats, but make frequent trips back East to visit the ocean. <image:caption>Cheryl Doty, who was raised in the Unitarian Universalist tradition, finds solace in reconnecting with her faith each Summer on Star Island. Twenty years ago, she first visited with her husband John and daughter Emma. As an active member of the Isle of Shoals Association Unitarian Universalist (ISAUU) board for five years, Cheryl has served as Secretary, Vice-President, and buyer for the Star Island gift shop. Cherishing the strong friendships and connections she has forged within the Star Island community, Cheryl eagerly awaits each annual visit, relishing a week of peaceful reflection, reuniting with old acquaintances, and forming new connections amidst the island's natural beauty. In the early 2000’s Cory and his wife Josi brought their children, Chelsea, Amanda and Cory Jose to the Island for the first time. While he was never a Pelican two of his three children have spent several seasons on the Island working the front desk, snack bar, dining room, truck crew and dock. While on the Island Cory enjoys the natural beauty of the Shoals while flying kites, playing disc golf, taking photographs, and socializing with family and friends. Deb calls Star Island "the best place on earth" - the mixture of nature and of course, the people sustain and inspire her. Deb is a former Pelican who is part of a family of former Pels - fourteen of them to date - who loves to lend her time and talents to supporting Star and the ISa. Currently serving as ISA Membership Chair, Deb hopes to use her communication, marketing and outreach skills to engage more people in the good works of the ISA to further sustain the island we all love. <image:caption>Gabrielle Prochaska was first introduced to Star Island at the age of nineteen by her future husband and immediately developed a profound appreciation for the island community. Over the years, she became deeply involved in island life as an All Star 1 Conferee of 30-plus years, through volunteer service, and by raising three sons who have all gone on to be Pelicans and/or volunteers on island. In 2017, Gabrielle expanded her commitment to Star Island by joining the Star Island Corporation, where she has since contributed to the broader island community in various capacities. Her service has included active participation on the Rutledge Marine Lab Committee, the All Star 1 Executive Committee, and the Star Island Marketing Committee. Most recently, she joined the Shops on Star Committee as a Clothing Buyer and is now entering her second year as Chair of the SoS Committee, further extending her engagement with the island's operations and mission.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Jocelyn Pierce has attended a Star Island conference for most of her life, beginning in 1987, and has always felt like the best version of herself on island. After almost a decade working in retail, she followed her passion for food and opened a small batch + sustainable bakery, now in it’s 11th year. Along with food and hospitality, Jocelyn is passionate about sustainability and climate action and currently serves as the media lead for the Massachusetts chapter of the Surfrider Foundation. Jocelyn hopes that her background in small business can support the long term planning and financial health of the ISAUU and the Shops on Star. <image:caption>John Anderson appreciates Star Island for its affirmation of nature and place-based spiritual connections to the Earth. He appreciates the commitment to advancing sustainability on the island, shown by solar power, sewage treatment, vegetable gardening, extensive composting and recycling efforts. John is eager to support both the spiritual and the ecological learning that are and can continue to be part of Star Island conferences and programs, and to welcome new Shoalers as well as long-timers to its amazing community. <image:title><p class="" style="white-space:pre-wrap;">isauu board - Linda Pollack-Johnson (She/Her)</image:title>
<image:caption>Linda Pollack-Johnson's parents first brought her and her sister to Star Island in 1968 to attend the LOAS I and II conferences continuing until 1975, when Linda met Bruce Johnson, then a bellhop. That Island romance led to 7 years of dating. In 1982, they were married by Pete Mercer in the chapel during the LOAS conference. They worked as Pelicans on and off during the 1980’s (performing frequently in the Pel Show in acts involving juggling, mime and music) and returned as new parents and conferees in 1992 to LOAS and in 1994 to International Affairs where they continue to be active conferees. Linda has two adult children who both worked as Pelicans for many years and as a result, she is grateful for the supportive and fun way that Star Island gives young people a springboard into the working world while grounding them with UU values and, in the case of her family, maintaining their connections with their younger selves. She looks forward to volunteering in ways that lighten the load of the full-time summer staff. Image shows a middle-aged white woman with shoulder length brown hair.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Miriam was brought to Star Island by her parents as a baby. The island was a special place for her parents who had met a Youth Conference in the years following World War II. Attending the International Affairs Conference became a yearly family tradition and continues today. Miriam worked as a Pelican for 3 summers during college, first in Housekeeping and then on the Night Crew. She continues to enjoy volunteering on Star Island during the open up work weekends. It is the communities and friendships that form during the conferences, working and living together as Pelicans, or volunteering during work weekends that Miriam most appreciates. <image:caption>Molly has been a life-long Pelican Reunion conferee, a Star Island volunteer, a Pelican for nine summers from 2005 to 2013, and she is currently a Star Island Corporation Member as well as a Director and the Board Secretary for the ISAUU Board. During her time as a Pelican, Molly helped to create and implement the Star Island Personal Retreats Program. She is a graduate of UNH where she completed a M.Ed. and a B.S. in Microbiology and she has a decade of formal teaching experience with a focus in STEM Education and hands-on, interdisciplinary learning. As an educator and Unitarian Universalist, Molly is glad to contribute to sustaining and growing Star Island’s educational programs, beloved community, and spiritual pursuits. <image:title><p class="" style="white-space:pre-wrap;">isauu board - Nick Bresinsky (He/Him)</image:title>
<image:caption>Nick Bresinsky loves Star Island’s perennial power to offer transformative life experiences to all its visitors. He believes this is as true for a bird in migration as it is for the humans who find it in their season. It’s as possible for a long-time Shoaler as it is for a child on their first day visit. Inspired by both the island’s caring web of humanity and awesome natural wonder, he hopes to help support this place that has changed the lives of so many. <image:caption>Nicholas first learned about Star Island while in college when he visited as a personal retreater. He didn't know it at the time, but that experience would lead to some of the most meaningful relationships that he has cultivated in his life! The following summer, Nicholas applied to be a Pelican and worked four consecutive seasons between 2010 and 2013, and continues to volunteer as much as time allows. Nicholas became a Star Island Corporation member in 2017 and attends the Pelican Reunion conference annually with his brother. He currently lives in Portland, Maine with his two cats, Copernicus and Minerva, where he works in the jewelry industry as a gemologist and service specialist. Nicholas is glad to be a director for the ISAUU to help serve and benefit the island community that's offered him so much over the years!</image:caption>

<image:caption>Patti first experienced Star Island as a volunteer during a Memorial Day open up weekend. She gradually became immersed in the island community by becoming a member of the Shops on Star Committee and is now Chair of that dedicated volunteer group. For Patti, each season brings unexpected experiences, new island friends, and the peace and serenity of such a unique place. The opportunity to be surrounded by dedicated volunteers, island staff, new and returning conferees, and day visitors is truly special. Patti looks forward to continuing her work on the ISAUU Board and doing her part to have another successful shops season. Image shows a smiling white woman wearing a purple hoodie. It was during this time that she formed lifelong friendships that still hold strong today. In college she spent the summers working on the island on the waitrae, front desk, and fire safety crews.
